Business Experience

After graduating in 1973, from The University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree, Ronnie Cromer returned to his hometown to start his career.

His first job was with Prosperity Drugs, which is a small pharmacy in Prosperity, South Carolina. In 1981 Ronnie struck out on his own and bought his own pharmacy. Over the years Ronnie has seen his business grow, and he even expanded to multiple locations at one point. Today, he has one location in Newberry, Lorex Drugs, and he is also a partner in the Union Family Pharmacy located in Union, SC.

Just as he has done in public service, Ronnie has worked hard to become a leader in his profession. In 1989, he became a member of the South Carolina Occupational Therapy Board. In 1990, a commitment to serve in Operation Desert Strom pulled him away from his family and professional obligations, but upon his return he started looking for new ways to serve his profession and colleagues. In 1994, he joined the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy (1994-2001). Ronnie was very active as a Board of Pharmacy member and helped to rewrite the South Carolina Pharmacy Practice Act in 1997. In 2000, Ronnie was elected as Chairman of the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy.

Ronnie is also a past board member of the Capital Bank in Newberry and has served as the Chairman of the bank’s Advisory Board since 2003.
