Senator Cromer is committed to:
- “Improving Public Schools”- As a product of the South Carolina public school system, and specifically schools located in Senate District 18, Ronnie knows how important it is to maintain a high quality of education for all children. As a state senator, Ronnie believes early childhood education opportunities should be improved and broadened, meritorious teachers should be rewarded, parents should have more choices, and teachers should be empowered to restore classroom discipline.
- “Economic Development”- Ronnie knows what it takes to compete in today’s economy. As the owner of Lo-Rex Pharmacy, a partner in Plaza Management Group, and former Chairman of the Capital Bank Advisory Board, Ronnie has 30 years of real business experience. His support of tort reform, judicial reform and state-wide wi-fi hot spots is evidence that he understands the competitive environment in today’s business world. Ronnie draws on his personal business experience as he works with other legislators to develop legislation that will put our state’s economy back on track. Ronnie also works with various state agencies to maintain and recruit high-quality industries that provide high-paying jobs to the people of Senate District 18 and other South Carolinians.
- “Small Business”- With 30 years experience as a small business owner, Ronnie understands the barriers and obstacles that hamper growth and productivity. Ronnie believes that in times of economic hardship, government should operate more like a business in order to reduce the overall tax burden.
Ronnie understands that raising taxes is not the answer to state budget problems. Ronnie will work to increase our state’s revenue through increased economic development programs and by allowing families and small businesses to keep more of their own hard-earned money and encourage support for the local marketplace.
- “Health Care”- Health care is one of the most complicated and expensive services provided by our state government. As a pharmacist, Ronnie has come face-to-face with the challenges of helping folks in District 18 with their health care needs. He knows how the high costs of prescription drugs are impacting families and seniors and how they can drain financial resources.
He has also seen the inefficiencies in the system. Even before being elected to the Senate, Ronnie was working to improve South Carolina’s health provider community. In 1997, he co-authored the South Carolina Pharmacy Practices Act. Ronnie is using his experience to lead the fight ensuring that the state fully funds Medicaid from recurring sources of revenue. He wants to protect prescription drug programs that help seniors and those on fixed incomes, and to make health care and prescription drugs more affordable for all South Carolinians.
